RESUMO

Designing composite catalysts that harness the strengths of individual components while mitigating their limitations is a fascinating yet challenging task in catalyst engineering. In this study, we aimed to enhance the catalytic performance by anchoring ZIF-67 nanoparticles of precise sizes onto lamella Si-MWW zeolite surfaces through a stepwise regrowth process. Co ions were initially grafted onto the zeolite surface using ultrasonication, followed by a seed-assisted secondary growth method. Si-MWW proved to be the ideal zeolite support due to its thin layered structure, large external surface area and substantial lateral dimensions. The abundant Si-OH groups on its surface played a crucial role in securely binding Co ions, limiting size growth and preventing undesirable ZIF-67 aggregation. The resulting ZIF-67/MWW composite with finely dispersed nano-scale ZIF-67 particles exhibited a remarkable catalytic performance and stability in the aldol condensation reactions involving acetone and various aldehydes. This approach holds promise for designing MOF/zeolite composite catalysts.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common cause of dementia. Serum complement factor 5a (C5a) is exceedingly implicated in AD. We explored the role of C5a levels in AD patients of different severity. METHODS: Mild, moderate, and severe AD patients, and healthy controls were included. C5a and pro-inflammatory factor (TNF-α, IL-1ß, IL-6, CRP) levels were assessed by ELISA, and cognitive function was evaluated by Mini-Mental state examination (MMSE) score. The correlations between C5a, inflammatory factor levels, MMSE score, and plasma Aß42/Aß40 ratio were analyzed by Pearson tests. Independent risk factors for AD aggravation were assessed by logistic multivariate regression analysis. According to the cut-off value of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis of C5a level, AD patients were assigned into low/high expression groups, and severe AD incidence was compared. Severe AD cumulative incidence was analyzed by Kaplan-Meier curve. RESULTS: Serum C5a, TNF-α, IL-1ß, IL-6 and CRP levels were raised, and MMSE score was lowered in AD. Serum C5a, TNF-α, IL-1ß, IL-6 and CRP levels in severe AD patients were higher than those in mild/moderate AD patients, but there were no significant differences in these cytokines between moderate and mild AD groups. The MMSE score of severe AD patients was lower than that of mild/moderate AD patients. Serum C5a level was positively correlated with serum TNF-α, IL-1ß, IL-6, and CRP levels, and negatively correlated with MMSE score, with no obvious correlation with plasma Aß42/Aß40 ratio. Serum C5a level was one of the independent risk factors for AD aggravation. The occurrence of severe AD might be related to an increase in serum C5a level. CONCLUSION: Serum C5a level increased with AD severity, and its expression was positively correlated with serum pro-inflammatory factor levels, and negatively correlated with cognitive function.

RESUMO

Small-pore Lewis acid zeolites have been showing increasing potential in shape-selective reactions regarding small-molecule conversion. In this study, Sn-CHA with tunable framework Sn contents was facilely prepared via a fluoride-free, seed-assisted interzeolite conversion (IZC) pathway. Commercially available dealuminated USY functioned as the parent sample, and seeding played a vital role in accelerating the transformation process, promoting the target zeolite yield, and guiding the attached-growth pathway. Notably, a proto-zeolite phase with a semi-constructed pore structure was captured during the IZC process, which represents a crucial intermediate stage for developing the complete CHA structure and ensuring a well-defined Sn status. The detailed synthesis mechanism was explored in multiscale by a series of techniques. The obtained Sn-CHA and proto-Sn-CHA exhibited excellent catalytic performance in converting 1,3-dihydroxyacetone to methyl lactate. Proto-Sn-CHA was proven to be a highly effective glucose isomerization catalyst owing to its larger pore size and Lewis acidic nature.

RESUMO

Manganese ore substrate up-flow microbial fuel cell constructed wetland (UCW-MFC(Mn)) as an innovative wastewater treatment technology for purifying antibiotics and electricity generation with few antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) generation has attracted attention. However, antibiotic purifying effects should be further enhanced. In this study, a biofilm electrode reactor (BER) that needs direct current driving was powered by a Mn ore anode (UCW-MFC(Mn)) to form a coupled system without requiring direct-current source. Removal efficiencies of sulfadiazine (SDZ), ciprofloxacin (CIP) and the corresponding ARGs in the coupled system were compared with composite (BER was powered by direct-current source) and anaerobic systems (both of BER and UCW-MFC were in open circuit mode). The result showed that higher antibiotic removal efficiency (94% for SDZ and 99.1% for CIP) in the coupled system was achieved than the anaerobic system (88.5% for SDZ and 98.2% for CIP). Moreover, electrical stimulation reduced antibiotic selective pressure and horizontal gene transfer potential in BER, and UCW-MFC further reduced ARG abundances by strengthening the electro-adsorption of ARG hosts determined by Network analysis. Bacterial community diversity continuously decreased in BER while it increased in UCW-MFC, indicating that BER mitigated the toxicity of antibiotic. Degree of modularity, some functional bacteria (antibiotic degrading bacteria, fermentative bacteria and EAB), and P450 enzyme related to antibiotic and xenobiotics biodegradation genes were enriched in electric field existing UCW-MFC, accounting for the higher degradation efficiency. In conclusion, this study provided an effective strategy for removing antibiotics and ARGs in wastewater by operating a BER-UCW-MFC coupled system.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To assess the diagnostic value of the Copenhagen index for ovarian malignancy. METHODS: PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, Embase, CBM, CNKI, and WanFang databases were searched throughout June 2021. Statistical analyses were performed using Stata 12, Meta-DiSc, and RevMan 5.3. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic odds ratio were calculated, the summary receiver operating characteristic curve was drawn, and the area under the curve was calculated. RESULTS: Ten articles, including 11 studies with a total of 5266 patients, were included. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic odds ratio were 0.82 [95% CI (0.80-0.83)], 0.88 [95% CI (0.87-0.89)], and 57.31 [95% CI (32.84-100.02)], respectively. The area under the summary receiver operating characteristics curve and the Q index were 0.9545 and 0.8966, respectively. CONCLUSION: Our systematic review shows that the sensitivity and specificity of the Copenhagen index are high enough for it to be used in a clinical setting to provide accurate ovarian cancer diagnosis without considering menopausal status.

RESUMO

We would like to emphasize the differentiations of diagnosis and treatment between general uterine leiomyomas and diffuse uterine leiomyomatosis (DUL), which is a kind of extremely rare disease. Levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) is an attainable option provided to treat DUL with cerebral thrombosis, as a feasible novel method. Case report: A 21-year-old female patient with DUL was due to cerebral venous thrombosis caused by oral contraceptives. The patient was persistently vaginal bleeding after decreasing intracranial pressure and anticoagulant therapy for 3 days. Subsequently, a hysteroscopic submucosal myomectomy was performed to restore the normal shape of the uterine cavity, and the placement of Mirena was given after surgery, which aimly played a good role in hemostasis, prevention of severe menorrhagia and reconstruction of endometrial function. Conclusion: This case report shows that, levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) is efficient and secure to treat DUL after hysteroscopic surgery, and simultaneously does not increase the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). RESUMO

Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and antenna effect (AE) are two significant behaviors that have attracted increasing attention. However, it is challenging to achieve the synergistic effect of AIE and AE in luminescent materials for more extensive applications. Here, four gelatinous Ln3+ coordination polymers (Ln-CPs) are synthesized by self-assembly of ciprofloxacin (CIP), adenosine monophosphate (AMP), and Ln3+ ions in aqueous medium. Encouragingly, a remarkable increase in the characteristic fluorescence of Ln3+ and a significant decrease in CIP are observed along with increasing concentration of Ln-CPs, which is attributed to the large aggregates formed by self-assembly that strictly constrain the intramolecular motions of antenna ligands, thereby achieving the aggregation-enhanced AE. More meaningfully, Eu-CP not only shows a rice-like morphology at high aggregation state, but also provides an opportunity for the selective detection of alkaline phosphatase (ALP). A new flower-like polymer is formed upon incubating Eu-CP with ALP, accompanied by the fluorescence quenching of Eu3+ and recovery of CIP, a ratiometric determination of ALP in the range of 0.1-6.0 U·L-1 is thus achieved. Additionally, ALP assay in human serum and bioimaging in living cells have been successfully performed. This research opens a new horizon for the fabrication of Ln3+-based luminescent materials with promising applications.

RESUMO

Cell division cycle associated 5 (CDCA5) is correlated with the development and progression of many malignant tumors. However, little is known about its role in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) progression. In this study, the clinical value, biological function and underlying mechanisms of CDCA5 in EOC were evaluated. CDCA5 mRNA and protein levels were substantially upregulated in EOC and had a significant positive correlation with adverse clinicopathological characteristics and a poor prognosis. CDCA5 facilitated proliferation, invasion, and metastasis and disrupted mitochondrial-mediated endogenous apoptosis by activating the cell cycle pathway and inhibiting the P53 pathway in EOC cells. Conversely, knockdown of CDCA5 expression blocked the malignant activities of EOC cells and suppressed the growth of xenograft tumors in vivo. Mechanistically, the transcription factor KLF5 bound to a specific site in the CDCA5 promoter and promoted CDCA5 expression. Moreover, KLF5 overexpression rescued the negative regulation of inhibited CDCA5 expression on EOC cell proliferation. In conclusion, our findings revealed that CDCA5 promoted tumor progression of EOC via the KLF5/CDCA5/cell cycle and P53 axes, which might provide new insights into the roles of CDCA5 in EOC.

RESUMO

In this study, magnetic biochar (Fe-BC) was synthesized from phoenix tree leaves and FeSO4·7H2O by impregnation-pyrolysis method, and was used to activate H2O2 to degrade Cu-EDTA. The effects of preparation parameters on the degradation of Cu-EDTA by Fe-BC/H2O2 system were investigated by degradation experiments and characterization methods (SEM, BET, FTIR, XRD and XPS). The results showed that the magnetic biochar prepared under the pyrolysis temperature of 400 °C, pyrolysis time of 3 h and iron content of 3 wt% had the best catalytic activity. Within 120 min, the breaking efficiency of Cu-EDTA binding, precipitation efficiency of Cu2+ and removal efficiency of TOC could reach 78.48, 71.65 and 46.54% at the conditions of adding 1.0 g/L magnetic biochar and 25 mM H2O2 and the iron dissolution was only 0.32 mg/L. The characterization results and comparison experiments demonstrated that the catalytic effect of magnetic biochar not only depends on the transfer of electrons to H2O2 by the loaded iron oxides, but also the active oxygen functional groups (OFGs) and persistent free radicals (PFRs) contained on the surface can transfer electrons to H2O2 or even dissolved oxygen to produce an amount of hydroxyl radicals (·OH) and superoxide anion radicals (O2·-).

RESUMO

As a volatile organic compound, nitrobenzene has high vapor pressure and low boiling point, and it is very volatile when it enters the water body and enters the air. The mass transfer of VOCs at the water-air interface is a complex process of transboundary transport. In this paper, the effects of water temperature, interface turbulence, surfactant concentration, and humic acid concentration on the volatilization of nitrobenzene at the water-air interface were investigated. Under the influence of temperature, the volatilization of nitrobenzene accorded with the first-order kinetic equation. When the temperature increased from 5 ℃ to 25 ℃, the volatilization rate of nitrobenzene increased by 2.03 times. Temperature for volatilization rate constant was in accordance with the Arrhenius equation. The water-gas distribution of volatile organic compounds was in accordance with the Boltzman equation. Under the same temperature conditions, when the agitating intensity increased from 0 r/min to 250 r/min, the volatilization rate constant of nitrobenzene increased by 1.51 times. When the surfactant is greater than the critical micelle concentration, the volatilization rate constant of nitrobenzene decreases with the increase of surfactant. When the concentration of humic acid increased from 100 mg/L to 500 mg/L, the half-life increased by 1.14 h, and the volatilization rate decreased by 1.14 h, reduced by 17%. The results showed that the increase of temperature and the intensification of stirring had a significant promoting effect on the volatilization of nitrobenzene, while the surfactant and humic acid both played an inhibitory effect on the volatilization of nitrobenzene.

RESUMO

Tetracyclines residues, particularly oxytetracycline (OTC) and tetracycline (TC), have raised extensive concern because of their serious adverse effects on human health. Herein, a dual-response fluorescent probe based on nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) and Eu3+ hybrid (N-CDs-Eu3+) was developed to selectively determine OTC and TC. The N-CDs act as ancillary ligands of Eu3+ and recognition units of OTC/TC, while the Eu3+ ions chelated with N-CDs can also specifically recognize OTC/TC. Upon inclusion of OTC/TC, an enhancement in Eu3+ emission occurs due to the energy transfer from OTC/TC to Eu3+ and the efficient elimination of quenching effect caused by H2O molecule, which is attributed to the incorporation of N-CDs; while the blue fluorescence emitted by the N-CDs decreases under the inner filter effect and static quenching effect caused by OTC/TC. Based on the double and reverse response signals, the ratiometric detection of OTC and TC in the range of 0.1-45 µΜ and 0.1-30 µΜ is achieved with a detection limit of 0.017 and 0.041 µM, respectively. In addition, the noticeable variation in fluorescence color of the probe is integrated with a smartphone-assisted analysis device for the rapid on-site quantitative assay of OTC, where the detection limit is 0.15 µΜ. The results show that this probe performs with excellent specificity and anti-interference for both OTC and TC, and satisfactory detection results are obtained in lake water, milk, and honey samples, thereby confirming that the probe exhibits promising application in food safety and environmental monitoring.

RESUMO

AIM: To quantitatively synthesize the correlation between posttraumatic growth and resilience among breast cancer patients and explore the potential moderators affecting the relation. DESIGN: A meta-analysis of cross-sectional studies. METHODS: This meta-analysis followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses 2020 guidelines. This meta-analysis was carried out by searching Chinese and English databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure, WANFANG DATA, Chongqing VIP Information Co., Ltd., PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and PsycINFO from inception to February 25, 2022. Pooled Pearson's correlation coefficients between posttraumatic growth and resilience was calculated by the Stata software (version 17.0) using the random effects model. RESULTS: Seventeen studies including 4156 breast cancer patients were identified. A high positive correlation was found between posttraumatic growth and resilience (r = 0.448, 95% CI: 0.370-0.519, p < 0.001), and region and publication type significantly moderated the relation.

RESUMO

The specific detection of oxytetracycline (OTC) residues is significant for food safety and environmental monitoring. However, rapid specific determination of OTC from various tetracyclines is still challenging due to their similar chemical structures. Here, nitrogen-doped carbon dots (NCDs) with excitation and pH-dependent optical properties and a high-fluorescence quantum yield were successfully synthesized, which were directly employed to fabricate a dual-response fluorescence probe by self-assembly with Eu3+ (NCDs/Eu3+) for the ratiometric determination of OTC. The addition of OTC into the probe greatly enhances the characteristic emission of Eu3+ due to the "antenna effect", and the incorporation of NCDs into the probe further improves the Eu3+ fluorescence by remarkably weakening the quenching effect caused by H2O molecules and efficiently shortening the distance of energy transfer from OTC to Eu3+. Meanwhile, the fluorescence of NCDs apparently decreases due to aggregation-caused quenching. The results demonstrate that a ratiometric detection of OTC (0.1-25 µM) with a detection limit of 29 nM based on the double response signals is achieved. Additionally, visual semi-quantitative assay of OTC can be realized with the naked eye under a 365 nm UV lamp according to the fluorescence color change of the as-fabricated probe. This probe exhibits acceptable specificity and anti-interference for OTC assay, holding promise for the fast detection of OTC in real water and milk samples.

RESUMO

Background: Smartphone addiction (SA) has become a social problem that affects peoples' quality of life and is frequently reported to be correlated with alexithymia, avoidant or anxious attachment styles, and subjective well-being. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between SA and alexithymia, attachment style, and subjective well-being. Methods: A meta-analysis was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The following electronic databases were searched: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, PsycINFO, PsycArticles, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WANFANG DATA, and Chongqing VIP Information Co., Ltd. (VIP). Stata 16.0 was used to analyze the overall effect and test the moderating effect. Results: One hundred and ten studies were included, involving a total of 96,680 participants. SA had a significantly high positive correlation with alexithymia (r = 0.40), attachment anxiety (r = 0.37), and negative emotions (r = 0.31), and a low positive correlation with attachment avoidance (r = 0.17). In addition, there was a high negative correlation between SA and subjective well-being (r = -0.33) and a low negative correlation between SA, life satisfaction (r = -0.17), and positive emotions (r = -0.18). A moderation analysis revealed that age significantly moderated the relationship between SA and positive emotions. The tools for measuring SA significantly moderated the relationship between SA, alexithymia, attachment anxiety, and subjective well-being. Meanwhile, subjective well-being measurement tools significantly moderated the relationships between SA, subjective well-being, and negative emotions. Conclusion: SA was closely related to alexithymia, attachment style, and subjective well-being. In the future, longitudinal research can be conducted to better investigate the dynamic changes in the relationship between them. RESUMO

Purpose: One of the most exciting aspects of organisational psychology is the study of shame and the factors that lead up to it. The purpose of this study was to examine the relation between supervisor negative feedback and task performance. Further, we examined the mediating role of shame between supervisor negative feedback and task performance and the moderating role of self-esteem. Methods: Employees working full-time in educational institutions across Pakistan were selected to collect data from the respondents. By using a convenience sampling technique, 258 employees participated in the study. The data were collected in three phases to reduce the problem of the common variance bias. Direct paths were tested by using simple linear regression (SPSS V.25). Hayes (2017) PROCESS macro model 4 was used for mediation and model 1 for moderation. Results: The findings revealed that negative feedback from supervisors is linked positively with employees' task performance. Further, shame partially mediates the relation between supervisor negative feedback and tas performance. When self-esteem is high, negative feedback and task performance were more strongly associated than low. Discussion: This study has theoretical and practical implications and is based on the well-known theory of psychology ie affective events theory (AET), which states that workplace events cause emotions, influencing work attitudes and actions. This study fills the gap which is unknown to the scholars and practitioners in understanding that supervisor negative feedback is helpful to enhance employee task performance via feeling shame.

RESUMO

Selectively anchoring active centers on the external surface for forming highly exposed acid sites is a highly desirable but challenging task in zeolite catalyst synthesis. Herein, a defect-guided etching-regrowth strategy is rationally designed for facilely positioning Sn Lewis acid sites on the outer surface of the Sn-B-Beta while fabricating a bifunctional hierarchical structure. The synthesis was conducted by hydrothermal treatment of the as-made B-Beta (uncalcined), which has intrinsic defects of the BEA structure, with Sn source and basic organic structure directing agent (SDA). Under a moderate SDA concentration, with blocked micropore channels, such SDA-triggered etching-regrowth will proceed along the defect defined pathway, which ensures Sn selectively anchored on the external surface. Moreover, this methodology has exclusively introduced tetrahedrally coordinated framework Sn with open Sn sites as the predominated species. Mono- and disaccharide isomerizations in ethanol over different Sn-Beta catalysts proved the prominent advantages of the hierarchical structure with highly exposed and synergetic acid sites.

RESUMO

Conventional immunoprobes have absorption capabilities across the visible to near infrared (NIR-I, 650-900 nm) region. Recently, second near infrared (NIR-II, 1000-1700 nm) window have gained much attention due to their deeper penetration depth and improved visualization. Here, we describe the design and synthesis of a fully human nanobody-based fluorescent immunoprobe (ICGM-n501) for NIR-II bioimaging with strengthened fluorescent emission by antigen for the first time. By site-directed conjugation of an FDA-approved dye analogue, indocyanine green decorated with maleimide (ICGM), into a tumor-specific n501, ICGM-n501 provides real-time monitoring of abdominal transportation pathway of antibody-based bioagents with high resolution (0.21 mm), presents better accuracy and lower dosage (0.21 µmol kg-1) in bioimaging of peritoneal metastatic tumors than bioluminescence agent D-luciferin. In this work, ICGM-n501 demonstrates its potential in clinical surgery guidance, provide an expanded category of available NIR-II fluorophores and a template for next-generation immunoassay bioagents.

RESUMO

Corn straw biochar was used as a carrier to immobilize white rot fungi and the removal performance of immobilized pellets for acid red G (ARG) dye was studied. The results showed that the removal rate of ARG could reach 96.17% under the best preparation conditions of immobilized pellets (3% sodium alginate concentration, 0.7% corn straw biochar, 5% white rot fungus mycelium suspension, 4% CaCl2, and 36 h immobilization time). The orthogonal test results showed that the best combination was the immobilized pellets dosage of 200/100 mL, pH of 4.5, rotation speed of 150 r/min, and initial concentration of 20 mg/L dye at 30 °C. The degradation pathway of ARG by immobilized microspheres was studied by ultraviolet-visible spectrometer, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results showed that ARG was degraded into aniline and 5-(acetamino)-4-hydroxy-3-amino-2,7-naphthalene disulfonic acid. Aniline was further deaminated to form benzene, and benzene was ring opened to form other organic compounds; 5-(acetylamino)-4-hydroxy-3-amino-2,7-naphthalene disulfonic acid was dehydroxylated to form 5-(acetylamino)-3-amino-2,7-naphthalene disulfonic acid. This study shows that the prepared biochar immobilized pellets can be used as an efficient water treatment material to remove ARG dye from wastewater.
